Okay... I know I'm a week late in posting the samples of the pages that I made at the class with Heidi Swapp, but I have a great excuse! My husband had the camera and my kids were home last week driving me nuts! So, here they are now.
The first one on the left with the heart was made using the large heart mask over a striped patterned paper. We used Fired Brick distress ink for the center of the heart and Black soot to do the edges. The Ink Blending Tool is essential for applying the distress ink! After applying the ink and removing the mask we stamped over the inked image. Who knew that you could use Distress ink directly over patterned paper! The next one was created by using the stars and circles masks. If you look closely you can see the orange circle and green star... that was made by first inking a green star, then overlapping it with the circle, and lastly placing the star mask over the inked star so as to not mix the two inks.
In the second picture the first layout was created by using Heidi Swapps Invisibles Papers. These are white papers that have been embossed with clear ink. When you apply the distress inks to the paper you see the embossed image appear... too cool! The bottom of the layout is embellished with Heidi Swapps invisibles chipboard. The colors of ink used on this layout are Broken China and Peeled Paint. The middle layout is my favorite! I even had Heidi sign it for me! This time we used a plain piece of white cardstock, the Heart Mask and another Floral Mask. Stamps complete this layout. The last layout made use of the Stars Mask again. I also learned that you can overlap different masks for a really cool effect!
Along with the Ranger Distress inks we also received new Distress Stickles! I haven't had the chance to use them yet... but I can't wait! Heidi Swapp told us that the Tim Holtz website has some great ideas and tutorials on how to use his products.
And as for scrapbooking on the road... well, I am actually in Saskatoon as we speak! I decided to bring along some scrapping supplies to see if I could get anything accomplished while my husband is taking a course during the day... if my kids will co-operate! I brought just a few supplies... my trimmer... I just bought the new Fiskars Rotary Trimmer... LOVE IT! No more dull blades! And yes, we do have them in stock! I also brought my scissors, tape runners, foam squares, sanding block and a corner rounder. I put all my layouts together in page protectors in one of our zipper bags. All I brought for my layouts were my pictures, patterned papers and cardstock. I will complete the layouts when I get home... I wonder how many I'll get done???
That's all for now, Ta Ta from Saskatoon!
